40 Glasses – Quarantacalici

Small glasses mind. Always better not to overfill, though it’s a fact there are 40 x 125ml serves in each and every 5 litre bag in box (BIB). Invite around 20 mates, that’s just a couple each. Job done.
Nero di Troia, Puglia Rosso

Freshly landed – Nero di Troia, Puglia Rosso, from the heel of Italy. Medium bodied, cherries + berries, full of brisk acidity and youthful tannic vivacity. Only 12% ABV, good for the head and beneficial when the duty changes kick in next February. An ABV under 12.5% would have meant a decreased duty rate as the bands of duty become more intricate in their incremental enforcement, but Rachel denied that as an opportunity by sticking the overall duty rate up as well. Cheers Rach!
So for now fill your boots, be merry, for the end of the world is nigh, or perhaps just ever so slightly / quite a lot nearer. For balance here are some musings from our producer:
“We are free farmers and winemakers.
At the foot of the Alta Murgia, in a peculiar territory characterized by gentle hills, rocky ridges and a great variety of spontaneous tree and herbaceous species, we live and cultivate the land following the principles of regenerative agriculture.” – Morasinsi
More Wine is also listing this 7 day skin contact white / orange number from the same producer.
A blend of local varieties grown on calcareous soil in agroforestry system. Pampanuto with herbaceous notes, Bombino Bianco with citrusy notes and acidity, Moscato Reale with tropical notes. Wild yeast fermentation, total SO2 40mg / litre and only 11.5% alcohol.
Who doesn’t want some Bombino Bianco in their lives?

Mullet Over

In honour of the return of the orange-man-baby, we are renaming our festive whole spice pouch packs MULLET OVER. Not really, but stranger things have happened and on a regular ongoing basis it seems. Next stop, Clacton-a-Lago. Fingers crossed we never get there!
So best to go party / throw a party and mull over the state of the world.
Click here for your very own festive spice pouch . Fruity, grenache based reds work a treat for mulling. Just add some OJ and a slice.
Or follow our friends across the pond and go ORANGE. Perhaps it’s a West Country delight but we’ve found a skin contact white / orange wine with apple instead of orange juice is very much a thing. Go try.
